Elena Kulagina investigates families with disabled children. This is
a new and under-researched subject, currently acquired a great importance
for Russian society. Decline of the governmental social support for families
(caused by economic crisis) and the lack of affordable medical services
dramatically changed the condition of families with disabled children
for the worse. Elena Kulagina elaborates indicators aimed to measure economical
and social effectiveness of government political decisions towards families
with handicapped children. She also analyzes the socio-economical and
demographic characteristics of such families (a pilot sample in Moscow)
and gender roles' distribution between the parents of such children in
Moscow families. Elena Kulagina also plans to provide recommendations
for governmental bodies responsible for making political and economical
decisions in this field.
