MARINA M. MALYSHEVA

e-mail: malysheva@gender.ru

In 2000 Marina Malysheva and Elena Tiuriukanova were involved in implementing a pilot project on the subject "Promotion of Gender Equality at the Work Place and Achieving Quality in Employment", conducted under the aegis of the World Labor Organization. The study focused on raising enterprise performance efficiency by making a fuller use of human resources, i.e., male and female labor. The purpose of the project was to jointly identify the conditions ensuring equal rights and opportunities in the sphere of employment within management and trade unions. Focus groups and in-depth interviews with the management and staff of Moscow enterprises and companies were held. The study made it possible to identify the main causes of continuing gender inequality and to propose measures to improve the situation.
